Baltimore Tango Festival 2011

Why Attend

We know your have lots of choices on when and where to dance Tango. Here is why we think Tango Element-Baltimore should be one of your must-go destinations in 2011.

Our Cast of Characters

Every year we try to wow you with the amazing line up of maestros. We are very careful in selecting our couples, as we would like to present a healthy mix of famous& seasoned and up & coming stars of the tango skies. We believe it's important to keep the dynamics going and always keep our eyes open for new quality dancers and partnerships. This year we are particularly pleased with our diverse and sophisticated group that represents a good balance of styles, teaching techniques, tradition, and innovation. This is a dream team of teachers in their only East coast (and for some their only US) appearances this year, not to be missed!

Not to mention the DJs! These guys are legends and have moved more feet on the dance floor than any others here and abroad, capturing our mood and keeping the dance floor moving into the wee hours of the morning. Need we say they capture the soul of the Tango?

Venue & Food

The entire event is taking place in ONE fantastic venue, and what's not to like about having everything under one roof when you are dancing the nights away? Just chill out and relax - no rushing and running around for your classes and milongas - they are only an elevator ride away! And we serve late-night breakfast to dancers at the all-night milongas that is included in the entrance charge.

The Tremont Grand hotel was built around an old Masonic Temple because the developer understood the grandeur and craftsmanship of the ballrooms we are fortunate to occupy. They are breath taking!

No need for a car either! The Tremont is a 20 min. cab ride from the BWI airport, a shorter jaunt from the train station. You can use metro to a station within walking distance to the hotel from either. The hotel has undergone a recent renovation and we've negotiated an excellent $109/nite group rate for you. All rooms are extremely spacious, equipped with a kitchenette, and you get a FREE Internet connection!

And the supreme downtown location in the heart of the city leaves you only five blocks away from the beautiful historic Inner Harbor and other tourist attractions, not mentioning an array of restaurants surrounding the hotel and a Super Fresh grocery store across the street (so you could put your kitchenettes at use!). There's a FREE bus all day and into late evening that travels to other areas of the city with stops right outside the hotel.

The hotel has an excellent and affordable in-house deli where you can grab delicious Maryland specialties, high-quality salads and sandwiches and more between classes without having to worry about time. We've arranged for the deli to close late and to open early after the all-night milongas so that you can get a bite before crashing.

And of course our dancers - all of you are the ones who make this festival outstanding! We love the range of levels from those just beginning to savor the Tango to the most popular teachers in the country (actually many attendees point out the overall high level of dancing in classes and milongas). Thanks to YOU for helping us create this wonderful learning environments where we all come together to discover, create and enjoy!!!

A little extra…

Finally, TE will be offering a select number of quality vendors of Tango accessories so that you can buy the most coveted and searched after tango shoe brands, such as CommeilFaut, 2x4 (guys - don't miss those!) and more, exquisite clothing made specifically for tango and other fine goods. Additionally, we will have licensed Oshiatzu practitioners and a reflexologist (all carefully handpicked!) available over the weekend to help soothe those aching body parts. Just ask anyone who received therapy last year and they'll tell you what a refreshing, rewarding experience (and Godsend) it is to have these services available during the festival.
